Fiber Optics Training Program
If you are fond of fiber optics, and want to learn more about it,
there are fiber optics training programs available for you. Indeed
this technology has gained popular interest by many. The knowledge
of such an amazing technology with the various applications it has
on different industries – would really push one to learn more about
its concepts and theories.
One may ask around of available training on institutions where
vocational courses are offered, or perhaps some universities
offering short-term courses on fiber optics training. There are also
certain groups who are professionals and experts in the field who
offer such trainings. It is advisable that the instructor does not
only know the theories and concepts behind fiber optics, but knows
as well to do the hand-on portion – or the practical application as
well.
One will not benefit on theory alone. Exposure to actual
applications or perhaps simulations will do. It would be better that
theories and hands-on will go together. Leaving one behind would
lessen your appreciation of the technology. One will also gain
better understanding when these two methods in the fiber optics
training program are employed.
At www.scti.org, one will be able to see fiber optics training
offered. They have a Fiber Optics Minor Certificate Program that is
intended for electricians, technicians or students of a related
field. This fiber optics training program involves actual fiber
installation and splicing – on top of the lecture on theories and
concepts regarding fiber optics. This certificate program is
composed of 2 courses, Fiber Optics I, and Fiber Optics II. After
completion of both, the certificate may be issued. An optional third
course, Fiber Optics Design Theory is an advanced course.
Also, at www.spcollege.edu, they have a Certified Fiber Optics
Technician Course (CFOT). This fiber optics training program has 24
training hours distributed on a 3-day period. One is required to
have basic computer knowledge in order to qualify for this training.
This training is designed for anyone who is interested in becoming a
Certified Fiber Optics Technician. Theories and concepts are
discussed, and 75% of the training will be hands-on work. This is
done to prepare the students to take the CFOT test, which is
sanctioned by the Fiber Optics Association.
There are many available options where one can get fiber optics
training. One should always consider taking a course that not only
touches on pure theory alone, but on the practical side as well.
Hands-on training is important, and it will prepare one to handle a
work that requires the practical application of your knowledge.
